A chef pours hot maple syrup onto ice to replicate the centuries-old Canadian tradition of enjoying snow candy when the sap starts running in the springtime. The maple taffy was only one of many examples of the fare offered to guests at the Canada Day 152 party at the Fairmont Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia on July 1. Other typically Canadian foods included poutine, tarte au viande and Nanaimo bars.
