Tire tracks lead across freshly fallen snow on the top of the Manic 5 hydroelectric dam in eastern Quebec north of Baie-Comeau. The dam is on Route 389 and for years marked the end of the pavement for drivers heading to remote Labrador, still hundreds of kilometers away.
