A craftswoman painstakingly etches a cloth with hot wax to create one of the new Batik Kanada designs promoted by the Canadian Embassy during the Canada Day 152 celebrations at the Fairmont Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia on July 1, 2019. Well known Canadian motifs, including the red maple leaf and a white background symbolizing winter, were incorporated into the traditional Indonesian fabric art as a way to fuse the cultures of the two countries.
