opinion pieces
Transcontinental Media:
The included pieces are among the columns syndicated within Transcontinental Media (now called Saltwire) over almost two decades, ending in 2014 when I temporarily moved to Indonesia. The lead newspaper that printed the column was the Telegram of St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. They subsequently appeared in Corner Brook's Western Star, Happy Valley-Goose Bay's Labradorian and Labrador City's Aurora. Read them here.
OhMyNews International:
OhMyNews was a South Korean news website founded in the year 2000 to give voice to and provide an outlet for citizen journalists, then a new concept in the world of online media. OhMyNews soon went international with some success, in part because of the participation of and promotion by former United States vice president Al Gore. However, by 2010 the format proved too expensive and OhMyNews transformed into a forum that discussed, rather than practised, citizen journalism. Fortunately before that happened OhMyNews International published several of my stories. Read them here.
